From the Manufacturer

American composers Paul Sawtell and Bert Shefter teamed together on a large number of soundtracks. A Dog of Flanders was one of their rare assignments devoted to the family drama genre with a special appeal to children.

Mission accomplished. For this well-crafted story of a young boy and his dog, Sawtell and Shefter delivered a gentle and richly textured score with a pastoral flavour. Warmly performed by the Santa Cecilia Academy Orchestra and Choir of Rome, it shows a melodic concern with a variety of themes perfectly blended together.

The soundtrack to A Dog of Flanders was released on LP at the time with a true stereo version that has become a collectors' item. For our digital restoration we sough the best available stereo sources. Despite the persistence of a small amount of analog distortion in a few passages, the overall listening experience proves to be delightful.
