He scored his first studio picture in 1982. While he worked primarily in the horror and sci-fi genres through the 80's, his versatility eventuality became apparent with the scores for the Vietnam War film Bat-21, the Gothic mystery Haunted Summer and the much-praised Holocaust film Max and Helen. Later came the strange and unexpected sonorities of The Vagrant, the synthesizer textures and vocalizes of Dream Lover, and the darkly compelling music of Tales from the Hood.
Young is now bringing in the new millenium by spotting such projects as, Bless The Child, directed by Chuck Russell (starring Kim Basinger and Jimmy Smits) and has just completed the scoring for, Wonder Boys, directed by Curtis Hanson (starring Michael Douglas and Francis McDormand). Young will incorporate a 100-piece orchestra and 84-piece choir into the score for the supernatural thriller Bless The Child which opens in May. Immediately after these two Paramount projects, Young begins work on Soul Survivor an independent film. Christopher Young will have 5 movies so far this millenium opening in wide release in 2000 -THE HURRICANE, WONDER BOYS, BLESS THE CHILD, THE BIG KAHUNA, and SOUL SURVIVOR.
