These distinguished composers have written scores for some of the most renowned Spanish directors

Eva Gancedo and Lucio Godoy will form part of the guest composers invited to the fourth edition of The Tenerife International Film Festival, FIMUCITÉ, sponsored this year by The Cabildo Insular, The Canary Islands Government and The City Halls of Santa Cruz and La Laguna.

Born in Madrid in 1958, Eva Gancedo is a prestigious composer and winner of a Goya Award for her work with Ricardo Franco in ‘La Buena Estrella’. At the beginning of her career she worked closely with this director (‘Después de tantos años’, ‘Yo, una mujer’, ‘La Buena estrella’, ‘Lágrimas negras’), combining feature films (‘La reina Isabel en persona’, ‘La noche del hermano’, ‘La mirada de Ouka Lele’) with TV series (‘7 vidas’), short films and pieces for dance and theatre.

Besides her work as a composer, she teaches Music Harmony, Composition and Arrangement in the Escuela de Música Creativa of Madrid. Gancedo also teaches Piano, Instrumental Group and Harmony at the Escuela Municipal of Alcobendas where she was also the head of the Modern Music Department.

Nowadays, her work for Rafael Gordon’s documentary ‘La mirada de Ouka Lele’ has received excellent reviews. Gancedo’s suites ‘La mirada de Ouka Lele’, ‘Arderás conmigo’ and ‘La reina Isabel en persona/ La selva’ will be played by the Tenerife Film Ensemble, conducted by Luis Cebolla, next Thursday July 8th at the Leal Theatre in La Laguna at 20:30.

Lucio Godoy was born in Paraná, Argentina in 1958. He studied at the conservatory of Buenos Aires, Paris and The Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has written numerous soundtracks for important films like ‘Los girasoles ciegos’ and ‘La educación de las hadas’ by José Luis Cuerda, ‘Mataharis’ by Icíar Bollain, ‘Los lunes al sol’ by Fernando León de Aranoa, ‘Cachorro’ by Miguel Albadalejo, ‘Intacto’ by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo or ‘Los años desnudos’ by Dunia Ayaso and Félix Sabroso.

Godoy has collaborated in the musical production of soundtracks written by different composers for films such as ‘Mar adentro’, ‘Los Otros’ and ‘Agora’ by Alejandro Amenábar, ‘Todo sobre mi madre’, ‘Carne trémula’ and ‘La flor de mi secreto’ by Almodóvar, ‘La lengua de las mariposas’ by José Luis Cuerda, ‘Los amantes del círculo polar’ and ‘Tierra’ by Julio Medem or ‘Mi vida sin mí’ by Isabel Coixet. His work will also be played on Thursday 8th of July at the Leal Theatre at 20:30.
