Composers Danny Elfman and Thomas Newman were on hand at the Los Angeles Film Festival this afternoon for a very special "Coffee Talk", moderated by BMI's Doreen Ringer-Ross. These two talented artists discussed their inspirations, their problems with temp scores, and how they work with directors. The banter between Newman and Elfman was energetic and fun, and there was a really good vibe that spread to the audience.
During the Q&A session, Elfman mentioned his upcoming work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - and how he and Burton would undoubtedly torn to shreds because everyone will be comparing it to the original film. (Yes, he's writing songs for the Oompa Loompas!) SoundtrackNet also talked with Elfman's agent and learned that there will be a score release to Spider-Man 2, released by Sony on July 20th.
Special thanks to Hanna Pantle and Doreen Ringer-Ross
