The 78th Annual Academy Award nominations were announced this morning. The "Best Score" nominees are rather unusual, with composer John Williams getting his two expected nods, but the other three spots being filled by newcomers from foreign lands. Also, this year there are only three song nominees (maybe in a bid to make the awards ceremony shorter?), but SoundtrackNet is pleased to see Dolly Parton\'s name on the short list - although Danny Elfman is sorely missed, as we could think of at least two songs (if not more) that were clearly worth nominating Here\'s the full list of music-related nominees:

Music (Score)
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (Gustavo Santaolalla)
THE CONSTANT GARDENER (Alberto Iglesias)
MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA (John Williams)
MUNICH (John Williams)
PRIDE & PREJUDICE (Dario Marianelli)

Music (Song)
"In the Deep" from CRASH
"It\'s Hard Out Here for a Pimp" - HUSTLE & FLOW
"Travelin\' Through" - TRANSAMERICA

The Academy Awards will air on Sunday, March 5 at 8e/5p on ABC.
