With the Academy Awards unveiling the best in film in just a week, Soundcheck (on WNYC) highlights the best of music in film this upcoming Friday with special guests David Carr, a culture reporter and New York Times columnist as well as film historian, Jon Burlingame. Together with host John Schaefer, they will discuss the eclectic group of Oscar nominees in the music categories, such as Spain's Javier Navarrete ("Pan's Labrynth"), France's Alexandre Desplat ("The Queen"), and Argentina-born Gustavo Santaolalla ("Babel") – among others.
