Columbia Records/Sony Music Soundtrax will release Music From The Motion Picture Stranger Than Fiction on Tuesday, November 7.

"Stranger Than Fiction," the much-anticipated Columbia Pictures release starring Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah and Emma Thompson, opens nationwide on Friday, November 10.

Music From The Motion Picture Stranger Than Fiction features four songs from the groundbreaking alternative pop/rock band Spoon including abrand-new track composed especially for the film, "The Book I Write," as well as "The Way We Get By," one of the most popular tunes in the Spoon repertoire.

"When I was approached to do the music for "Stranger Than Fiction,"writes soundtrack album producer Brian Reitzell (Redd Kross, soundtracks for "Marie Antoinette" "Lost In Translation," "Virgin Suicides,""Thumbsucker") in his liner notes for the album, "I thought it might bethe perfect occasion for Britt Daniel (singer/ songwriter of Spoon) and I to collaborate....I was basically scoring the film with Spoon songs - it created a kind of sonic thread that had just the right amount of nervy melody and rich, simplistic tone I thought suited Zach's story and Marc's vision of the film. The actual 'job' of scoring that Britt and I were so excited about doing together became a much easier task since the existing and newly remixed music worked so well. For this soundtrack album, it seemed appropriate to include the full vocal versions of the songs so you can hear them in all their glory as the band originally intended."

1. SPOON The Book I Write
2. MAXIMO PARK Going Missing

Columbia Pictures and Mandate Pictures' "Stranger Than Fiction" is an inventive comedy about a novelist (Emma Thompson) struggling to complete her latest, and potentially finest, book - she only has to find a way to kill off her main character, Harold Crick, and she'll be done. Little does she know that Harold Crick (Will Ferrell) is inexplicably alive and well in the real world and suddenly aware of her words. Fiction and reality collide when the bewildered and hilariously resistant Harold hears what she has in mind and realizes he must find a way to change her (and his) ending.
