Varese Sarabande has released a great CD. This CD, "20th Century Fox - Music From the Golden Age" is a must have compilation CD which includes themes from some of Fox's best films from the late 1940's to the early 1960's. Included are themes from THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH, THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR, ALL ABOUT EVE, PATTON*, THE BEST OF EVERYTHING and many more. All in all, there are 27 themes (plus the Fox Fanfare, of course), and all are original recordings.

Some of these recordings are presented in stereo, while the rest are in mono. Also, some are in great quality, while others leave something to be desired. It doesn't appear as though any of these recordings were remastered or restored. But that should not deter you from picking up this CD. The works of Alfred Newman, Alex North, and Bernard Herrmann dominate the CD, making this a great "introduction" CD to their works.

*1970 - the only exception
