SANTA BARBARA, CA - Film composer SHIRLEY WALKER, best known for the action-packed scores she provides for the BATMAN, BATMAN BEYOND and SUPERMAN animated series' on the Kids WB, has written an orchestral tribute to her husband Don Walker in honor of his journey to wellness after having been diagnosed with lung cancer, entitled, Oncogenic Quietude, the first piece to be commissioned by the UC Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra, which will be performed by the students under the direction of Jeff Schindler on Wednesday, June 7th at 8:00pm, in the Lotte Lehmann Hall as part of the program for their final concert of the semester. The piece chronicles Shirley's emotional reaction to the terrifying news, the initial skepticism of the medical team, Don's magnificent spirit throughout the journey and his eventual victory over the disease through his unfaltering courage and willingness to change his lifestyle in ways that would assist his body in the healing process.

The campus is located at 4050 Calle Real in Santa Barbara. Tickets will be available at the box office that evening for $12.00.
