GEORGES AURIC
Lola Montez / Notre Dame De Paris / Farandole
Marco Polo 8225070 (Cond Adriano) 14.99
1956 version of "Hunchback Of Notre-Dame" (21') is a colorful, powerful
score. Lola Montez (28') and Farandole (12') are both lighter in tone
with waltzes, circus music, etc.

PATRICK DOYLE
Love's Labour's Lost Sony 89004 16.99
Soundtrack to new Kenneth Branagh musical version of Shakespeare's play
has some Patrick Doyle, but the album is heavy on classic tunes by Cole
Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern. Doyle's score
is robust, romantic, full
orchestral music, but the album is a mixed bag.

BRIAN TYLER
The Fourth Floor GNP 8064 13.99
A challenging orchestral thriller score. The music features complex
string and percussion writing with clusters of low brass and the
unusual color of a duduk. The emphasis is on suspense.

ROY WEBB
Cat People Marco Polo 8225125 (Cond Stromberg) 14.99
-Has: Cat People (21:49)/I Walked With A Zombie (13:35)/
Seventh Victim (18:51)/Body Snatcher (8:31)/Bedlam (6:58)-
A very well-produced recording of scores from the films of Val Lewton
featuring Roy Webb's very atmospheric music, often with advanced
harmonic ideas. Recording is clear and detailed. Body Snatcher and I
Walked With A Zombie are standouts.
