JERRY GOLDSMITH Twilight Zone: The Movie WEA 923887 (Germany) 19.99 (45:24) At last on CD! Incredibly well-produced album combines four segments of movie into lengthy suites. "Nightmare At 20,000 Feet" is powerhouse, frenzied highlight. Hair-raising music! Same as original 1983 record album. Under Fire WEA 923965 (Germany) 19.99 (44:54) Underrated 1983 South American political thriller with Gene Hackman and Nick Nolte has terrific, flavorful score. Pat Metheny and full orchestra provide rousing whirlwind of music. Main "Nicaragua" theme is a masterpiece. Emotional, involving, exhilarating. One of the greats. Same as original album and previous Japan CD. JAMES HORNER How The Grinch Stole Christmas ISC 490765 16.99 (76:51) New Ron Howard movie with Jim Carrey has lengthy album with highpoints and lowpoints. Rousing, tuneful Horner score (44:23) is preceeded (and occasionally interrupted) by numerous vocals and dialog highlights. Album is annoying but Horner's music is terrific. LEWIS The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe (Promo) 24.99 (48:51) Lively, melodic orchestral music for adaptation of C. S. Lewis fantasy. Some minor tape "wow" present in recording. Otherwise, crisp stereo sound. Okay, sometimes exciting score. THOMAS NEWMAN Pay It Forward Varese 66195 15.99 (45:42) New drama with Kevin Spacey has unusual, introvert music. A disappointment. JOHN SCOTT Antony And Cleopatra JOS 128 -one extra track- 16.99 (63:36) 1973 Charlton Heston movie inspired John Scott's finest hour. Rich, passionate main theme, exciting cues, powerful Roman stuff. Scott's own 1992 re-recording now expanded to include one extra track. The Lucona Affair JOS 116 16.99 (53:53) Cargo ship Lucona plus Vienna locations, Mafia connections, private clubs, blackmail and murder provide inspiration for colorful symphonic score, played by Munich Symphony Orchestra.
