Beverly Hills, CA - April 13, 2001 - Elmer Bernstein has been tapped to score Jerry Zucker's comedy-adventure "Rat Race," a Paramount Picture in Association with Fireworks Pictures. This is the second film scoring assignment for Bernstein in 2001, his 50th year of writing music for films.

"Rat Race" marks Bernstein's third collaboration with Zucker, whose first film (with brother David Zucker), "Airplane," (and subsequent "Airplane II: The Sequel") forever changed the landscape of comedy-adventure and its music.   The summer release features an all-star comedic ensemble that includesJohn Cleese, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Lovitz and Paul Rodriguez. To entertain a group of the world's wealthiest high rollers, an eccentric casino tycoon pits eight unwitting players against one another in the race for two million dollars. "Rat Race" follows these contestants in a mad dash for cash. There is only one rule: there are no rules.
