The Annual Future is Female Concert will commence at the historical Wiltern Theatre on September 4, 2018 at 7pm. The concert featuring the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra will celebrate and showcase the wonderful contributions of women composers in film and television, as well as the global music composition community at large. The evening is presented by KCRW in association with Live Nation & The Alliance for Women Composers. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10am at www.wiltern.com. Many remarkably talented female composers of note will perform original music as a tribute to Maestras around the world. While there has been a major rise in film music concerts both domestically and globally, very few feature the musical works of women composers. The Future is Female Concert serves as a platform where talented female composers can showcase their works in a film music concert on a national stage.

In 2017, of the top 250 grossing films, only 3% were composed by women. This represents no change from 2016 from the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film by Dr. Martha M. Lauzen.
