Milan Records today releases Bottoms (Original Motion Picture Score) with music by Charli XCX and Leo Birenberg. Available everywhere now, the album features an original score co-composed by Charli XCX and Leo Birenberg with additional production by George Daniel and A.G. Cook for the female-fronted, queer teen comedy. Charli XCX was enlisted by Bottoms co-writers Emma Seligman and Rachel Sennott, the duo connecting over the popstar's music while drafting the film's script. Emmy-nominated film and television composer Leo Birenberg then worked on the scoring team, who drew on his past experiences from fan-favorite projects like Pen15, Cobra Kai, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Ranging from maximalist pop to more atmospheric and ambient instrumentals using Charli's voice in new ways, the score is an audacious mix of contemporary production elements and electronic synthwork that captures the film's raucous energy while heightening the emotional resonance of its coming-of-age narrative. Starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri, Bottoms is available in theaters now from Orion Pictures.
