CMJ Network today announced the dates for CMJ FilmFest 2003 taking place during the 23rd annual CMJ Music Marathon, October 22 - 25 in New York City. Now in its 9th year, CMJ FilmFest highlights works from emerging and established filmmakers exploring the relationship between music, film and technology. CMJ FilmFest annually hosts an awards competition and gives its signature award to an independent filmmaker who demonstrates the "Best Use of Music in Film."

In Previous years CMJ FilmFest has showcased both work by established filmmakers and breakthrough films from first-time directors. Filmmakers include Woody Allen, Allison Anders, Morgan J. Freeman, Quentin Tarantino and Wim Wenders. Titles include: Pulp Fiction, Kids, Blue in the Face, Swingers, Set it Off, Basquiat, Deconstructing Harry, Hedwig And The Angry Inch, Boogie Nights, Hurricane Streets, The End of Violence, American History X, Celebrity, and Fight Club.

Highlights from last year's event included:

·Amandla!: A Revolution in Four-Part Harmony. An award winner at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival with a Special Q&A session with director Lee Hirsch.

·Friday After Next: The third installment in the highly successful Friday series

·Standing in the Shadows of Motown: The critically acclaimed documentary about the Funk Brothers.

·Reindeer Section - The Making Of Son Of Evil Reindeer: a candid documentary following the Reindeer Section through the recording of its second album.

·Render: A full-length documentary of Ani DiFranco weaving together footage shot over a five-year period.
