During the 33rd Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent award-winning composer and musician Craig Armstrong will perform a unique film concert at the Flemish Opera house. For the first time ever the music Armstrong composed for Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge and Ray will be played by a symphonic orchestra assisted by a choir and Armstrong on the piano. The Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent has a long tradition in organising film concerts.
Only five years ago Craig Armstrong was honoured by the World Soundtrack Academy as the first WSA Discovery of the Year. In the meantime Craig\'s work in film has resulted in numerous awards. Most recently he received a Grammy for Taylor Hackford\'s biopic Ray. For Baz Luhrmann\'s Romeo and Juliet he won a Bafta and for Moulin Rouge by the same director he was awarded a prestigious Golden Globe, a Bafta and an American Film Institute Award.
The music Armstrong composed for those films will be played live at the film concert the Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent is organising on October 19th at the Flemish Opera house in Ghent. The set list contains music from Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge, Love Actually, Cruel Intentions, Ray, The Bone Collector and The Quiet American.
The Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent has a long tradition in organising film concerts. In previous editions, the Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent organised concerts with music by Ennio Morricone, Gabriel Yared, Elmer Bernstein, Patrick Doyle, Howard Shore, Michael Kamen, Georges Delerue and Maurice Jarre. The Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent was the first festival to present Hans Zimmer in concert.
