Rykodisc and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. are pleased to continue their
series of high-quality original soundtrack releases on October 13th, 1998,
with the debut CD release of the original motion picture soundtrack to
ALICE'S RESTAURANT (RCD 10737). 1999 is the 30th anniversary of the
counterculture classic that forever established Arlo Guthrie on the musical
map (in the Berkshires to be precise)!

Arthur Penn received an Academy Award nomination in 1970 for his direction
of the now-film, which is based on Arlo Guthrie's counterculture anthem
"Alice's Restaurant Massacree." Clocking in at over 10 minutes long,
Guthrie's song is a hilarious account of events that occurred at the height
of anti-establishment sentiment amongst American youth. His talking blues
account of various events that occurred around Thanksgiving 1965 in
Stockbridge, Massachusetts, including his arrest for dumping trash which led
to his rejection by the draft board, is a true American original.

This CD debut of the soundtrack album features the famous title song and
other music written for the movie and has been expanded for re-release to
include music from the film that was not on the original soundtrack album,
compiled with the assistance of Arlo Guthrie.

As with all releases in the Original MGM Soundtrack Series, this is a
pristine remastered recording which includes extensive liner notes,
exclusive photographs and a reproduction of the original movie poster. The
album also has CD-ROM capabilities featuring the theatrical trailer
previewing the home video release.
