Javier Navarrete, nominated for the Academy Awards in the Original Score category for "Pan\'s Labyrinth" is the latest distinguished guest to participate in the International Film Music Conference that will take place this next July in Úbeda, Spain.

Thus, the Spanish-born artist is further joining other renowned international composers who have already confirmed their presence: John Debney, Honorary President in this third edition and further nominated for an Academy Award for "The Passion of the Christ" (2004), David Arnold (BAFTA nominee for "007 Casino Royale") as well as Pascal Gaigne, 2006 winner of the European Soundtrack Council Award for his score to "DarkBlueAlmostBlack".

The Organising Committee of the Conference is further promising more surprises yet to come.

Born in 1956 in Teruel, Spain, the composer is currently in the spotlight due to his remarkable score for Guillermo del Toro\'s "Pan\'s Labyrinth"; a music that has captivated the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

In over 20 years devoted to writing music for films, Javier has been involved in about thirty pictures working closely with famous directors such as Agustí Villalonga and Mexican-born filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, for whom he also scored his 2001 film: "Devil\'s Backbone".

Other highlights in his career include the likes of "13 Campanadas" (Xavier Villaverde, 2003), "El Alquimista Impaciente" (Patricia Ferreira, 2002) and "El Punto sobre la I" (Matthew Parhill, 2003).

International Film Music Conference - City of Úbeda

The International Film Music Conference – City of Úbeda will celebrate its third edition from 19 to 22 July 2007 in Úbeda, Spain.

Organised by The BSOSpirit Society, it has the support of the City Hall of Úbeda and other sponsors. To this date, the symposium has become one of the most memorable gatherings for film music enthusiasts around the world.

As it has been the case on previous occasions, hundreds of fans, composers and journalists are expected gather in Úbeda this summer to enjoy the symphonic concert as well as the many sessions scheduled.
