Review: After The Fox

by David A. Koran October 15, 1998
3 / 5 Stars

If anyone has watched a Peter Sellers movie in their life, when they
pop this one into a CD player, it'll be recognizable. During this period of
time in Sellers' career, his movies were often scored by Henry Mancini
(the Pink Panther series) or as we have here, the ever effervescent Burt
Bacharach (who also chimed in with his score to Casino Royale... A James
Bond spoof of a real James Bond book, like After The Fox's "Fellini-like"
homage). Once again Bacharach is teamed with his lyrical partner, Hal
David, for the title tune which themes crop up often (sometimes to
annoyance) throughout the score. This is not to say that it's a bore to
listen to, on the contrary, out of the five that were released in this
series, it's the most light hearted and entertaining piece. The only way to
top it would to have had the Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass play the
underscore.
