There have been a few different labels pushing to release special vinyl editions of director Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising. First out of the gate and receiving little mainstream attention is WeMe Records, whose Valhalla Rising - Limited Vinyl Edition is currently available for pre-order and will be released November 4. Far from a rush job, WeMe Records' edition is well-worth a look by collectors. Featuring haunting artwork and a limited run of 800 copies in different color formats, it is sure to go fast. Milan and Invada are expected to release their vinyl editions later in November, but Milan records has released Valhalla Rising this week digitally and on CD.

Finally, today is the birthday of composer Johann Strauss II. One of his most popular pieces, "The Blue Danube," was put to such effective use in director Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
