WaterTower Music has announced the February 3 CD and digital release of the soundtrack to the new animated adventure The LEGO Batman Movie, one week before the film opens in theatres on February 10. A vinyl configuration of the soundtrack, The LEGO Batman Movie: Songs From The Motion Picture Soundtrack, will be released May 19. The collection features new music from DNCE, Alex Aiono, Patrick Stump, Oh, Hush! feat. Will Arnett and Jeff Lewis, Kirsten Arian, Justin Tranter, and more. The album also includes 16 of the film's score cues by Grammy-winning composer Lorne Balfe, and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) on drums.

The film's director Chris McKay describes Balfe as "one of the most talented and versatile people I've ever met."

"Chris is an encyclopedic reference for action hero films, but to him the important thing is the heart of the story, so I didn't think of it as a comic, but as real, live action," offers Balfe. "Every scene is amazing. After the first day working on the film, I forgot it was an animation. It was as live action as anything I have worked on!"
