Congratulations to composer Gustavo Santaolalla for his Oscar win for Babel. This is his second win, two years in a row, having won for Brokeback Mountain last year. Santaolalla beat out other nominees Alexandre Desplat (The Queen), Javier Navarrete (Pan\'s Labyrinth), Philip Glass (Notes on a Scandal), and Thomas Newman (The Good German).
The Oscar for Best Song was given to Melissa Etheridge for "I Need to Wake Up" from An Inconvenient Truth.
