Varèse Sarabande Records will stage its 35th Anniversary Holiday Gala, celebrating the music from seasonal film favorites at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro at 8 p.m on December 21, 2013. Award-winning film composer John Debney will be guest conducting music from his beloved holiday film score Elf as well as songs from John Williams' Home Alone soundtrack. In addition, there will be a world premiere concert adaptation of A Christmas Carol which aired on CBS in 1954 with a score by Bernard Herrmann (Psycho, Cape Fear) with lyrics by Maxwell Anderson. Also on the program will be music from Vince Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas prepared by composer and orchestrator William Ross (The Academy Awards, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) and featuring flutist Sara Andon in addition to a performance of Alexandre Desplat's song "Still Dream" from Rise of the Guardians featuring vocalist Tara Alexander.

The Golden State Pops Orchestra and Chorale, with Maestro Steven Allen Fox, will stage the concert with Varèse Sarabande executive producer Robert Townson acting as the evening's host and narrator. Previous Varèse Sarabande Gala Concerts have seen over 20 guest composers, including Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman, share the stage with the Golden State Pops Orchestra.
